Which firmware are the iPhones that have been released in the UK a few days back? If you post an answer, please let me know how sure you are, that will really help me.

I have a first generation iPhone, and was wondering if the new update will be available to all iPhone models, or just the 3G.

And do they make you sign up for at&t right there or just give you the phone?

I mean the i-Pod touch has everything an i-Phone has, and someone could just get like the ENV2 and its still good for calling. Why do people waste so much money on that?

Can you view any website on it?
Do you have to be in WiFi range to surf the web?
For example, can you surf the web on the interstate or in remote places?

I visited every AT&T store to buy an iPhone, and the story was the same. They had all sold out within a couple of hours of opening. That makes me wonder:
How many iPhones did the AT&T stores have available to sell with this so-called “release”? Seems to me that if they sold out within 2 or 3 hours, they only had a handful of them to sell.
Does anyone know how many each store got?
