Does Apple Sell The Old Iphones At A Cheaper Price When The New Ones Come Out?

I was just wondering if Apple sells the old iPhones at a clearance price, like next week when the 3gs comes out, will the old iphone 3g 16gb ones be clearance priced or do they just like throw them away or something?

    the 16gig reg 3g is going to be 149 while supplies last, they will no longer have it after that, the 8gig will be 99
